In the wee hours before daybreak, the Dankuni Toll Plaza is the best place to meet up because traffic is minimal and the roads are good. This is also one of the most well-known biker hotspots, by the way
As you keep riding along the AH1, you need to look for the detour onto SH19, which takes you towards Burdwan. Famous for the Ramnabagan Wildlife Sanctuary, do take a short break and visit any one of the numerous riverside restaurants for a sumptous Bengali breakfast comprised of "luchi torkari", and milk tea.
Durgapur is an industrial centre, and a well-planned one at that. Traffic here might be heavy, but it is well-directed. The roads leading into and out of Durgapur are wide and smooth, so you can cover distances quickly.
Next, you need to take a detour from Muchipara, and ride via the Purulia - Barakar road, as that would allow you to bypass the traffic on the main highway exiting Durgapur. If you have the time, do visit Joychandi Pahar for some adventure sports
You need to now ride via the Ranchi-Purulia road, which is always in excellent condition. We suggest a short snack break here, since you would be roughly halfway to your destination. The weather in Purulia is quite dry so do hydrate as many times as possible while on this stretch. Do try the heavenly rolls served at hotels here. They are quite filling!
If you do feel tired, better take a halt and sleep for a bit, as the roads to Ranchi are in average condition and generally congested. In case you decide to continue, make sure you ride carefully and keep in formation. Petrol pumps and shops on the way to Ranchi are few and far in between, so make sure you have at least half a tankful as you proceed towards this city. Once at Ranchi, do halt for the night.
Wake up early and gun your engines, because it is time you saw firsthand how beautiful our country is. Head down the Patratu road, and you will have a blast as you come across corners, straights and wonderful valley passes. Every hairpin offers a never-before-seen view of the Patratu Valley. To make the experience epic, visit the Hundru and Jonha Falls!
